**This is a HYBRID role that is open to Canada-based, authorized, T4 candidates who can be on-site in Toronto, ON, 3 days/week.**

Our large financial services client is seeking a Content Designer to join their Digital team. In this Consultant role, you will be working on their online banking web experience, supporting a couple of feature teams in providing solutions and capabilities that empower clients to independent and confident in performing online banking transactions.

You will partner within a team of Interaction Designers, Visual Designers, Content Designers, Design Researchers and Managers to research and identify the client’s problem and create and evaluate potential solutions. In addition, you will create, test and translate the content to support their cross-functional partners: product managers, project managers, business analysts, developers and quality assurance teams while designing and building the solution.

What You Will Do

As a content designer, you will have the opportunity to shape the conversations our client conducts through each of their digital products. To do that, you need to think strategically about the creation and delivery of the content: what they say, how they say it, and where they deliver each piece of that message.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines to define the core value of the digital products they design and build. You’ll make sure that every experience – from the overtly promotional to the purely transactional – embodies its core value as the clients move through and engage with it. In short: you’ll use content to connect what the digital products can do with what truly matters to their clients.

What You Would Work On:

Content Strategy

  • Create strategies for using content to support the clients’ needs for information and understanding in the digital products they design.
  • Facilitate collaborative design activities and ideation sessions and collaborative work activities.
  • Articulate the rationale behind a content strategy and provide design advice or guidance to other product team members.
  • Provide practical direction to the larger design team on Content Design communications standards, tools, channels and processes.
  • Act as an advocate for the clients, representing their needs and interests in discussions about the role of content in the products they design and how that role may affect other aspects of a product’s design.

Content Creation

  • Create client-focused textual content ensuring that it supports their design principles and the team’s design and product strategies, including labels, explanatory text, hidden or alternative text, metadata, and support content internal to a digital product, as well as external (go-to-market) content.
  • Partner with peers to shape or develop other (non-textual) content: iconography, information graphics, imagery, and data.
  • Apply the principles of Inclusive Design in content design and creation.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory teams to ensure that their digital conversations satisfy their legal and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Manage the documentation and sharing of content throughout its lifecycle.

Research and Testing

  • Work with a designated Design Researcher to facilitate team agreement on the questions it needs to answer through its Research and Testing activities.
  • Partner with the team’s designated Testing and/or Design Lead to initiate tests of the effectiveness of specific content strategies and specific content executions.
  • Research content and messaging strategies in the competitive landscape and perform competitive audits pertinent to specific design or business goals.
  • Perform content audits where appropriate.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Content experience in digital product (UX writing for web and apps)
  • Experience in mobile-first content
  • Demonstrated ability to edit to the main client message
  • Experience working in Lean UX / Agile project management environments
  • Basic understanding of Interaction design, Visual Design
  • Experience with usability research (focus on content)
  • A post-secondary education, ideally with a university degree or college diploma
  • 4+ years of writing experience at a creative agency or in-house creative team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about the challenge at hand
  • Proficiency in English
  • A portfolio of work samples showcasing your copywriting work

Nice to have

  • Experience with large design teams and multiple stakeholders (Product/Business/Technical partners)
  • Figma, Confluence, Jira experience
  • Experience with content strategy projects
  • Basic, working knowledge of written French to spot translation issues
  • A working knowledge of accessibility standards and methods to address them
  • A knowledge of design and technology trends

Successful candidates will be required to pass a background check prior to starting.
