–We’re looking for a Design Lead for the design team to craft the vision for the next evolution of the web design system. This is a full time hourly position with a 6-month engagement, but it could turn into something more permanent. We’re looking for someone who has experience leading teams to solve complex design system problems

We’re looking for a strong design leader with a systems background to join the Aquent Studios x Adobe.com UX team to help drive the future of Adobe.com. We’ve built a system that starts with Adobe’s product design system Spectrum and extends it to Adobe.com through patterns, templates, workflows, and more.
We need someone to help lead our team to take that system to the next level.
If you are a strategic problem solver, strong communicator and team lead, and can think holistically about all parts of the user experience, we want to meet you.
What you’ll do
- Lead a team of designers to establish the future vision for our system
- Drive design excellence and contribute to raising the bar for design at our company
- Work with designers, content strategists, and researchers to optimize the system in Figma, including developing best practices for building and using componentized patterns
- Work closely with and support the UX/Web Design Teams and dev/engineering teams, across multiple CMS environments
- Work closely with content strategists and product managers to ensure what we’re building is usable
- Help development teams to create components by ensuring they’re engineered according to design and interaction specifications
- Work with designers to maintain the system as well as create and update documentation
- Help establish design standards and principles accompanying the design system for scalability, efficiency, and consistency
- Evaluate and improve usability and accessibility of components and be a champion for the user
- Improve the design to development handoff process
- Occasionally conduct/participate in research that is relevant to building the design system
- Participate in our design community
What you need to succeed
- 10+ years’ experience in product or Web UX design.
- 5+ years’ experience leading design teams
- Significant experience creating design systems in Figma. Experience working in other large scale design systems like Polaris given strong consideration
- Experience working with front-end development and/or engineering teams
- Strong design sensibilities with experience in UX design, web marketing design, and visual design
- A proven track record and portfolio of solid experience design and strategy that meet user needs, website requirements, and business goals
- Strong experience design skills using diverse thinking, from the basics to contributing solid strategic design thinking
- Expert skills in design products such as Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma
- Deep knowledge of UX/UI patterns and principles
- Experience designing web experiences for SaaS products
- Drive and passion for improving user experience and usability of complex problems
- Flexibility to accept and design against feedback from colleagues in a rapid iterative design process
- Experience creating innovative and accessible digital interface design solutions for responsive websites
- Comfort in designing and running user testing and other qualitative customer validation
- Strong interpersonal, written and presentation communication skills
