Our client , a global automotive logistics company, is looking for a Director of Freight Forwarding
Overview:
The Director, Freight Forwarding position domiciled in Duluth, GA. This will be a Head of Department (HOD) position overseeing Customs Brokerage, FF Business Development, 3PL Forwarding, 2PL Forwarding, Parts Logistics, Inland Forwarding, and Maquiladora Forwarding.
Job Description:
- Primary: • Responsible for managing the overall operations of freight forwarding departments including 2PL, 3PL, Maquiladora, and Inland Forwarding.
- Work closely with regional managers by supporting and leading freight forwarding activities.
- Facilitate business/operation efficiency and provide expertise to the departments.
- Pursue business development to increase/achieve FF business goals.
- Oversee FF Business Development team sales activity and support.
- Create/Develop/Proceed/lead new business projects.
- Manage the preparations for reports to top management.
- Proactively identify, pursue and maintain a constant pipeline of prospects that will meet or exceed assigned quota.
- Secure new accounts by actively prospecting and identifying potential customers in need of freight services.
- Maintain current knowledge of freight carrier services, rates, and regulations to provide accurate and up-to-date information to customers.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with freight carriers to ensure competitive pricing and favorable terms for customers.
- Lead sales of prospecting, pursuing, presenting, and successfully closing complex Transportation Management or Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) solutions to C level executives of large corporations.
- Secure and expand logistics network to drive growth in Freight Forwarding business
- Spread sphere of influence for Electrified Commercial Vehicles (H2) Business Operation and expansion
Secondary:
- Manage all personnel, productivity, and activities within the department creatively and with a sense of urgency to develop customer-based solutions.
- Monitor, supervise, and manage working efficiency, KPI’s, and service contracts.
- Make recommendations for organizational development within the Freight Forwarding Group.
- Lead, coach, enforce, empower and direct reports to perform and achieve goals in line with Company values, overall strategy, and department goals while adhering to Company SOP and policies.
- Be an expert in the Managed Transportation industry by staying current with relevant trends, developments, competitors and innovative solutions.
- Create and build new business opportunities / relationships
Education: Bachelors Degree required
