Work Location: Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday on-site)
Work Schedule: Normal PST business hours, Monday – Friday
Through foundational, exploratory, and evaluative research, the UX Researcher informs cutting-edge technologies and innovative ideas. Some of our focus areas include exploring a tangible audio-only interface, redesigning hardware with repairability in mind, and bringing personal and GenAI features to our client’s hardware Ecosystem. Our client’s primary focus this year is realizing the vision of bringing Personal AI to the family of devices. As a UX Researcher, you would be a core contributor to a small team of researchers helping deliver this vision on our client’s 2024 hardware and software.

Responsibilities:
- Design and execute user research studies with external participants
- Align with stakeholders on research needs and timelines
- Analyze, document, and share findings via compelling written reports and presentations to stakeholders
- Create (execute on) a research roadmap and strategy for our hardware AI product for 2024.
Minimum Qualifications:

- Experience with research design utilizing various methods including but not limited to usability studies, contextual inquiry, concept testing and surveys
- Relevant product research experience in an end-to-end, usability, or foundational/generative setting
- Experience with every stage of research, from scoping, planning, and recruiting to execution and reporting
- Experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
- Experience working closely with product manager, UX designer and engineering to inform product direction
- Clear communication
- Resourceful problem solving

- Executive research (UX Research): help execute research and analyzes for research projects or programs
- Research for impact
- Help conduct research to identify user needs and business opportunities that further product goals by demonstrating foundational understanding and empathy of the user
- Synthesizing and communicating research
- Contribute to analyzing, consolidating, or synthesizing what is known about user, product, service, or business needs, with direct guidance
- Help to create and communicate research findings, insights, and recommendations
- Understand all possible users
- With direct guidance, work on ideas to improve products and services through research-driven insights and recommendations
- Start to develop user-centric thinking to unblock partners and collaboratively solve well scoped constraints in strategy, product or technology
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
- Ethical UX research
- Ability to prioritize the needs of people in order to conduct ethical user research to drive the design or adaptation of user interfaces, products, services, or platforms, especially if ethical conflicts of interest arise
- A focus on planning and conducting research that prioritizes ethics from a user’s perspective
- Human/user behavior
- Ability to think holistically about strategic value for users based on understanding their motivations, needs, pain points, and values
- This includes knowledge of human capabilities, including principles of human cognition and information processing, emotion and sentiment, decision-making and behavior, and how these translate into use, user, and usage fundamentals, usability principles and design best practices
- UX research methodology
- Knowledge of principles and methods for defining and measuring UX, and the ability to adapt UX research methods to the appropriate user interface and platform
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience conducting research on GenAI or Hardware devices
- Experience roadmapping and aligning stakeholders to research projects/priorities
- A passion for creating high quality and actionable insights in a very ambiguous and undefined space
- Comfortable with the fast changing priorities of shipping the first version of a product
- Super collaborative and open to learning a new style of research and deliverable crafting
The target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $54.02 to $60 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
